AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow to develop new drilling technology

11.06.2018

The AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow and the Polish Oil and Gas Company have completed the first demonstration phase of the MiniDrill project developing a new drilling technology.

It is an innovative solution that can increase hydrocarbon production and reduce drilling costs. Innovative technology involves drilling a large number of parallel small diameter holes using a high pressure jet of water.

Prof. Rafał Wiśniowski, dean of the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas emphasizes that employees of the Faculty have been creating innovative solutions in drilling technologies for over 50 years. Thanks to this, it is possible to drill in new areas such as ocean depths or extraterrestrial celestial bodies. Currently, it is extremely important to improve existing methods and create new solutions in the field of acquiring liquid resources on our planet.
