Astronomical Observatory of Adam Mickiewicz University to launch Popular-science lectures

The Astronomical Observatory Institute of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań is inviting participants to a series of popular science lectures. The observatory’s scientific staff will introduce interested astronomy subjects. The next lecture “Does space debris threaten our civilization?” will be delivered on October 4 by Prof. Edwin Grandson.

The next lectures are: November 8 – “What’s up on the red planet?” – by Dr Wojciech Dimitrow and 6. December – “Are space flights under threat?” – by Dr Krzysztof Kamiński. After each lecture, a tour and telescope show is planned and, in case of favorable weather, sky observations. The whole program will last about 1.5-2 hours (45-60 minutes lecture, 45-60 minutes watching telescopes / sky show).

Lectures are held once a month, twice a day. Admission is free, but prior reservation is required. Registration is available on the observatory’s website and will be expire exactly 6 days before the lecture date.
