Autonomous ship created at the Maritime University of Szczecin

05.11.2018

The Maritime University of Szczecin has completed the first stage of building an autonomous unmanned ship. The ship was developed by the Department of Ocean Engineering and Shipbuilding and passed the first tests on waters.

Launching the ship completes the first stage of construction, from the design and construction of the model and equipping it with propulsors on the bow and stern to installing the power, remote control and telemetry systems.

In the next stages of constructing, the autonomous ship will be provided with installation of sensors for measuring position, speed, course, distance from the wharf or other objects; development of a mathematical model for controlling the ship and its verification on the water; construction and installation of a computer system of autonomous control of the ship as well as development of algorithms and software for autonomous control of the ship and procedures for its communication with other units.
