Autonomous transport is the future

08.08.2019

Will new technologies reduce the number of accidents on Polish roads? Will drivers lose their job and be replaced by computers? These questions will be tackled by the consortium of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Motor Transport Institute (ITS) and the Faculty of Transport of the Warsaw University of Technology under the AV-PL-ROAD project.

The project acronym means Autonomous Vehicles (AV) and vehicles communicating with other vehicles and infrastructure (Connected Autonomous Driving – CAD).

The AV-PL-ROAD project implemented since December 2018 aims to prepare Poland for new challenges related to the safe implementation of automated and, in the future, autonomous vehicles into road traffic. One of its important aspects is the idea to create a CAD Competence Center. Thus ITS develops competences as well as invests in research equipment in the field of testing autonomous technologies.
