The Center for Literary Research for Children and Youth has been launched at the University of Wroclaw. At the inauguration, a seminar “Literary research for children and youth at the University of Wrocław – modern perspectives” was organized.

Studies of literature and books for children and youth at the Wrocław University have been conducted since the 1960s. The first scientist to deal with this topic was Prof. Jerzy Cieślikowski. The idea of the Center appeared in 2015 during the conference “Literary Margins and Digital Media” organized by the University and the Academia Europea Knowledge Hub Wroclaw.

In 2016, the university organized the international congress “The Child and The Book”. The Wrocław part was entitled “Children’s Literature and Play” and referred to the heritage of Prof. Cieślikowski. The event was attended by 150 researchers from around the world. The Center began operating on Tuesday 10 April.
