Conference of linguists in Poznań

On September 13-15 the Department of English Studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan invites participants to the 48th Poznań Linguistic Meeting. The theme of this year’s conference is “Language and evolution: issues and perspectives”.

The main lecture: “The evolution of language: at the interface of biology and culture” will be delivered by W. Tecumseh Fitch from the University of Vienna. Daniel Everett from Bentley University will deliver the plenary lecture “Homo erectus, symbols and origin of language” and discuss his research „How Language Began”.

Both scientists will also take part in the plenary dialogue and in the debate with other speakers presenting the results of their research during plenary sessions: Ljiljana Progovac, Geoffrey Schwartz and Przemysław Żywiczyński, Piotr Gąsiorowski and Nikolau Ritt.
