Crane of the future

20.02.2018

40 academic scientists and students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin are working on the project of the innovative crane.

The “Crane of the Future” is a project implemented thanks to the financing of the National Center for Research and Development. The consortium implementing the project consists of  Cargotec Polska and three universities: West Pomeranian University of Technology from Szczecin as the project leader, Koszalin University of Technology and Poznan University of Technology. Each organization has its own scope of work.

Researchers from the Koszalin University of Technology work on the voice control systems for use of everyday speech. As they explain, the aim is to replace strictly specified commands to control the crane with speech. The crane may be controlled in both Polish and English languages. The operator will not have to learn a special language, but simply he will be able to “talk to the crane”.
In the project assumptions cranes of this type will be also used in harvesters.
