Electric car of Poznan students ready for racing

15.07.2019

Students from the Poznan University of Technology (PUT) Motorsport research club operating at the Poznan University of Technology will take part in the Student Formula electric car competition. The latest design of the constructors – “Rusalka” will start in races in Hungary, Italy and the Czech Republic.

The new car has got the improved efficiency of the cooling system, and a new aerodynamic package. “Rusałka” also has a stiffened suspension and easier handling. The suspension was made of carbon fiber tubes with aluminum fastening elements. This allows designers to minimize the weight of the car, providing maximum rigidity of the structure.

Before the first race, a 100 kilowatt car engine was also strengthened, a new one is 50% more efficient. The radiator and aerodynamic system were also improved. In the rear part of the car the DRS was used, i.e. a system of reducing air resistance, whose task is to reduce forces directed in the opposite direction of travel.
