Employees of the Silesian University of Technology receive scholarships under the START program

Scientists of the Silesian University of Technology: Dr Eng. Emilia Kozłowska from the faculty of automation, electronics and computer science, and Dr Eng. Mariusz Tomaszewski from the faculty of environmental and energy engineering were among the hundred winners of the the START program organized by the Foundation for Polish Science.

Dr Eng. Emilia Kozłowska is interested in issues related to mathematics in oncology – with particular emphasis on mathematical modeling for therapeutic purposes in ovarian and lung cancers, as well as with the analysis of biological data. Dr Eng. Mariusz Tomaszewski deals with the topic of using nanomaterials to support biological wastewater treatment processes. His research focuses on increasing the activity of bacteria responsible for these processes.

The START program aims to select and highlight the best young scientists and provide them with support of the scientific development. The scholarship is 28 thousand PLN per year.
