Foundation for Polish Science awarded Prof. Maciej W. Grabski prizes

The Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) for the second time awarded Prof. Maciej W. Grabski prizes for scholars enhancing social understanding of science. This year’s laureates were Fr. Prof. Michał Heller, director of the Center for Copernicus of Interdisciplinary Research in Kraków and Prof. Jan Madey from the University of Warsaw.

The prize was established in 2016 to commemorate Prof. Maciej W. Grabski, president of the FNP in 1992-2005. It is awarded to people who promote and explain methods of scientific inference, present the influence of science and Poland’s civilization development, presenting the results of research in an accessible way, educate the public to distinguish “good” and “bad” learning, that is, research based on a reliable method and rational application of research against those that do not meet these criteria, and disseminate verified scientific arguments in the public debate. The award is a cash prize of PLN 10,000.
