Gdańsk University of Technology and Sopot signed a license agreement for the use of Accessibility Standards

24.06.2019

Sopot is the fifth city in Poland that will use the Accessibility Standards developed at Gdańsk University of Technology to desig public spaces in order to create a friendly space for all users, in particular people with disabilities.

Accessibility Standards contain necessary information and solutions to design and modernize public space in accordance with the principles of universal design in order to unify solutions used in the city. They refer to Polish legal regulations as well as standards of EU.

By signing the contract, Sopot joined the group of cities that want to be residents-friendly in terms of creating spatial conditions that facilitate the use of public places for the elderly and disabled people, parents with a baby in a wheelchair, pregnant women, and people with temporary mobility limitations.
