Gdańsk University of Technology to cooperate with the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management

19.07.2019

Gdańsk University of Technology will cooperate with the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW). The agreement between the institutions was signed by the rector of the university, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde and Dr Przemysław Ligenza – general director of IMGW.

Cooperation between signatories will allow the exchange of data and products derived from numerical weather forecast models, which may result in solutions such as the METEOPG project, helping the Ministry of Investment and Development to monitor drought in Poland.

Scientists from both organizations will also develop prognostic models of high time-space resolution, create new methods of data analysis and organize seminars and trainings in the field of the physics of the atmosphere and synoptic meteorology.

– We are aiming to take advantage of the opportunities that exist in various centers of our country to make the forecasts implemented by the institute even better, more practical and accurate – says Dr Ligenza.
