Luiza Leszkowska, a graduate in electronics and telecommunications (specialty: Wireless Communication Engineering) at the Gdańsk University of Technology received the 3rd degree Scientific Award of the President of the Polish Space Agency for the best master’s thesis in the field of space engineering.

The laureate’s work “A multi-layered planar antenna with a layer of superstratum for satellite applications in the X band”, written under the supervision of Dr Eng. Łukasz Kulas and Eng. Mateusz Rzymowski from the Department of Microwave and Antenna Engineering at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics presents a new antenna design.

The graduate’s concept can be used in CubeSat type nanosatellites, for example for fast transmission of images recorded by satellites working in constellations. The winner of the competition also wrote her engineering work: “Circular polarization antennas for CubeSat nanosatellites” about this topic. Her promoter was Dr Eng. Krzysztof Nyka.
