Graduate of the Gdańsk University of Technology receives Award of the Polish Association of Plastics Converters

31.12.2018

MSc. Agnieszka Sulowska from the Department of Polymer Technology at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Gdańsk University of Technology took the first place in the competition of the Polish Association of Plastics Processing Processors for the best diploma thesis in the field of plastics.

The awarded work concerned the use of polyetherresils in tissue engineering – combining engineering with medicine in the field of science, which aims to repair damaged tissues. It uses a combination of biomaterials, cells and bioactive components that create a functional structure to support tissue regeneration.

Tissue engineering uses special scaffolds of porous tissue developed from natural polymers, synthetic polymers and inorganic biomaterials. They can be used in the processes of bone regeneration, cartilage, liver, wound healing, treatment of cardiac anemia and as a drug release system.
