Innovative dried honey produced by scientists from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences

09.08.2019

Scientists from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) produced dried honey, which contains as much as 80 percent natural honey. The honey available on the market contains only 50 percent, the rest is maltodextrin – a supplement with a high glycemic index.

In the improved product maltodextrin was replaced with nutriose – a carrier with prebiotic properties, supporting the human digestive system.

Dried honey is included in many food products and dietary supplements. It can also be used as a sweetener in dietetic products despite the content of maltodextrin.

SGGW is convinced that it will soon be replaced by dried honey produced at the University of Warsaw by a team of scientists from the Department of Food Engineering and Production Organization of the Faculty of Food Sciences including Dr Katarzyna Samborska, Dr Eng. Aleksandra Jedlińska, Dr Eng. Artur Wiktor and Prof. Dorota Witrowa-Rajchert.
