International ReMedy Research Agenda to launch researches on splicing

18.10.2019

Professor Magda Konarska and Dr Marcin Magnus from the ReMedy International Research Agenda conducted research on gene expression in the RNA Biology Laboratory, which resulted in a publication in the journal Molecular Cell.

– Splicing is an important part of gene expression. Errors that occur during splicing can have a negative impact on cell metabolism, apoptosis and the cell cycle, in some cases also causing cancer,- they explained.

ReMedy is a joint unit of the University of Warsaw and the University Medical Center in Göttingen. Its creation and activity are possible thanks to the International Research Agendas program run by the Foundation for Polish Science. Since 2015, the program has allowed to create 14 research institutions in Poland – centers of excellence, where high-quality scientific research and development works are carried out at the highest global level under the guidance of outstanding scientists.
