The invention of “Smart materials” – intelligent separation materials on an activated polymer substrate with a defined surface nanoarchitecture “, developed by scientists from the chemistry department of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, was awarded at the International Invention & Trade Expo 2019 in London.

The solution presented in London won the gold medal, the Diamond Special Award and the special prize of the World Association of Intellectual Property and Invention (WIIPA Special Award).

The invention is the result of cooperation of scientists from Poland and Jordan. Its use will enable the production of highly specialized separation materials with defined surface properties, characterized by controlled separation properties. The solution is patented and has great commercialization potential.
