On August 31 – September 2, 2019, the Polish Society of Women in Mathematics and the Faculty of Applied Mathematics of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow are organizing a scientific conference “Following the women in mathematics – in Honor of Sofia Kowalewska”.

The aim of the conference is to honor Professor Sofia Kowalewska, called the “princess of mathematics”, her significant contribution to the development of mathematics, especially partial differential equations and their applications, and to emphasize Professor Kowalewska’s contribution to the fight for women’s rights and their equal access to education and work positions.

The series “Following the women in mathematics” promotes the achievements and merits of women whose research, professional activity and publications have made a significant contribution to the development of science, mainly mathematics and related sciences.
