Krakow University of Technology works out a pioneering method of city ventilation

25.09.2019

“Dynamic ventilation and smog reduction in urbanized areas by the case of Krakow” is the title of the conference organized by the Institute of Structural Mechanics of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Krakow University of Technology (PK) and the Wind Engineering Laboratory of the PK, which will take place on September 26, 2019.

During the event, the Krakow scientists will present and discussed the method of ventilation of the towers and chimneys. The pioneering solution was developed by a team of scientists from the University of Technology.

The method of city ventilation proposed by PK scientists is to be implemented “in horizontal ventilation channels through series of parallel systems of special ventilation towers cooperating with vertical ventilation of chimneys”.

Research shows that the method we propose is an effective method to improve the ventilation of cities, which significantly reduces air pollution – says Prof. Eng. Andrzej Flaga, head of the PK laboratory.

According to scientists from PK, research has confirmed that the innovative idea to fight smog is also economically justified. The method will be patented.
