Professor Przemysław Marciniak from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Silesia received a grant from the Loeb Classical Library Foundation (Harvard University) for the translation of Lukian’s dialogues. The project concerns a new Polish, commented translation of selected works of a satirist from the second century along with preserved Byzantine scholia to his texts.

Scholarships awarded by the Loeb Classical Library support research activities, publications and projects in the field of classical studies. The co-financing amounts from 1000 to 35000 USD. According to the wish of the founder of Loeb Classical Library – James Loeb the money from the proceeds from the sale of editions of Greek and Latin texts published by Harvard University Press is offered to the contemporary translators.

Professor Marciniak is the head of the Center for Literature and Reception Studies at the Byzantine University of Silesia and the coordinator of the Byzantine Reception Network – a scientific network financed with funds awarded by Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung.
