Medical University of Gdańsk carrying out a project promoting the improvement of air quality

27.09.2018

The Gdańsk Medical University in cooperation with the Polish Association of Health Programs implements a project promoting the improvement of air quality by transforming the transport technologies into healthier ones.

The project is conducted in 7 European countries by the European Public Health Alliance – an international organization associating entities acting for public health. In addition to Poland, the project includes organizations from the Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria. Participants prepare a report and recommendations for the national and local authorities, which are to contribute to the improvement of air quality.

The use of diesel technology in densely populated areas of the agglomeration is considered to be a particularly important public health problem. In contrast to the so-called low emissions of households, the problem of air pollution caused by transport remains underestimated at the level of public debate.
