07.11.2018

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education decided to finance the purchase of the latest generation of the Cryo-EM electron microscope (Cryo-EM) and to create the National Center of Electronic Cryomicroscopy at the National Center for Radiation Synchrotron Solaris in Krakow.

The creation of the National Center for Electronic Cryomicroscopy will allow Polish scientists to keep pace with other international research centers and will enable joining the group of world leaders in structural biology.

Research using structural biology techniques has contributed to a huge advance in the treatment of many diseases, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and obesity. Research results obtained with the use of this technology are essential for understanding the functioning of the human body, the formation of diseases or aging processes and the development of effective therapies.
