26.09.2018

– In many disciplines we have reasons to be proud. Polish science is a kind of export product and it is at a satisfactory level, but we have even more ambitions – said Piotr Müller, deputy minister of science and higher education.

As emphasized Piotr Müller, the Ministry of Science he wants scientists to be able to focus on research relevant to them and the country. He admitted that the new law raises the bar.

– There is a parametric criterion, we assess the level of citations, then the implementation criterion and then the socio-economic impact. Above all, the point is to focus on higher quality research. The ranking table will list publishers and magazines that have a real impact on science. This is a key change and many people are afraid of it. Those who really want to take up teaching and scientific challenges have nothing to fear – said Deputy Minister Müller and assured: “We will appreciate real, relevant scientific research. We will compare philosophers with philosophers and historians with historians. This will be assessed by experts from the scientific community”.
