National Science Center completes competition for research on SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus

The National Science Center has completed competition for research on SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and the COVID-19 pandemic. Scientists will receive PLN 12 million to expand their knowledge in this field.

The “Quick Access Path to Funds for Research on COVID-19” competition aimed to identify projects that will contribute to understanding the mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, improving diagnostic tests, finding new drugs, and mitigating the social effects of the pandemic.

The researchers submitted 262 applications for a total amount of over PLN 140 million, of which 259 were accepted for further substantive evaluation. The National Science Center decided to provide 19 projects with financing for a total amount of over PLN 12 million including 12 life sciences projects, 4 in humanities, social sciences and arts and 3 projects in exact and technical sciences.

Researches, which will be carried out as part of the competition, can last for the longest 18 months, and the results must be widely available as soon as they are obtained.
