Open lecture on cellular communication at the University of Bialystok

12.04.2018

Prof. Ewa Łucja Stępień of Jagiellonian University will talk about the Nobel prize-winning researchers of cell communication this Saturday (14 April 2018) in Białystok.

During the lecture, she describes the history of research on cell ultrastructure and regulation of cellular processes through vesicular transport. These studies recently enabled explaining the mechanisms of intra and extracellular communication as well as the regulation of the genome’s function. The cell communication scientists were awarded 2 Nobel Prizes in medicine and 1 Nobel Prize in the field of chemistry.

Professor Ewa Stępień is a molecular biologist, a graduate of the Jagiellonian University. She uses nanotechnology for the application of diagnostic medicine to search for new disease biomarkers.

The open lecture will start at 11.00 in room 2011 of the Faculty of Physics (campus at Ciołkowskiego Street).
