Open University of Warsaw University celebrates its 10 years anniversary

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its launch, the Warsaw Open University is holding the conference “Opened University to everyone – 10 years of adult education in a new dimension”.

As reported by the Warsaw University, the Open University organizes courses for all adults, regardless of education and professional qualifications. More than 1,200 lecturers have cooperated with it since 2008. Last year, students were able to study more than 200 courses in every trimester. 574 new groups were launched and over 8,500 people participated in the lectures.

The conference will be divided into four discussion panels: “Why do adults learn? Adult learning and competences of the future” held by Ewa Czerniawska from the Faculty of Psychology, “Lifelong learning, the labor market and its needs” conducted by Agata Wroczyńska from the Office for Quality of Education, “Learners of adults, i.e. the challenge for the university” by Andrzej Wysmołek from the Faculty of Physics and “How to teach adults? ” – a lecture given by Prof. Radosław Pawelec from the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Bibliology.
