From the beginning of next academic year, the University of Opole (UO) and the State Medical School of Higher Education in Opole (PMWSZ) will merge in one university. This will result in establishing the Collegium Medicum, an organizational unit that brings together didactics and science in medical sciences, health sciences and physical education. All fields of studies, previously conducted at the University of Silesia and the PMWSZ will be administered and organizationally assigned to Collegium Medicum.

At the extraordinary session of the Senate, the rector of the PMWSZ Dr Tomasz Halski emphasized – I promise hard work and I assure that the PMWSZ team is prepared for the merger. We have considerable scientific potential, scholars with great scientific achievements. I am glad that we will contribute a lot into the university’s structure, including discipline of health science.
