Patent for a chemical inducer of plant resistance

19.02.2019

A team of Dr Marcin Śmiglak obtained a patent for the plant inducer. The research partner is the Poznań Science and Technology Park of the University of A. Mickiewicz.

For years, Dr Śmiglak has been conducting research to find the stimulator of plant development that increases immunity against infections caused by fungi, viruses and bacteria attacking particular species. This technology can be cutting- edge solution in the plant protection industry, and obtaining patent protection will allow the commercialization of the invention.

Research has shown that the obtained chemical molecules are the most effective of the known systemic resistance inducers in plants, effectively stimulating immunity against viruses, bacteria and fungi simultaneously. The technology based on the discovered inducers allows the use of the preparation in doses up to 250 times lower than in the case of conventional plant protection agents.
