Research results of Dr Tobias Fischer from the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Wroclaw together with an international group of researchers will help to solve one of the biggest mysteries of astrophysics.

His article – “Release of quarks as a supernova explosion mechanism in the process of formation of massive blue supergiant stars” – was published in “Nature Astronomy”. The existence of matter known as quark-gluon plasma has been speculated for a long time. Thanks to the results obtained, it will be possible to study it in the context of future galactic explosions.

Supernova explosions are phenomena considered to be the most energetic explosions in the Universe. Thanks to Fisher’s research, it was possible to show that the appearance of exotic particles under extreme conditions can lead to supernova explosion.
