Poland is a member of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory

President Andrzej Duda signed the ratification documents establishing the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). In 2017, the Council of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory accepted the presentation of Poland and unanimously approved its application for membership.

EMBL (European Molecular Biology Laboratory) was founded in 1974 and is one of the leading research centers in Europe that conducts specialized research and training. Since 1997, it has the right to award own PhD degrees. The aim of EMBL is to conduct scientific research in the field of molecular biology, including work on a new technological solutions.

Membership in the organization creates opportunities for establishing the EMBL laboratory in Poland. It would be the first laboratory in Central and Eastern Europe. EMBL currently includes 24 European countries and two associated countries: Australia and Argentina.
