Representatives of legal and scientific institutions and communities met on Friday (31 January) to discuss the reform of the justice system. The invitation to dialogue was issued by the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), which hosted the event at the Staszic Palace.
“I deeply believe that we can argue with each other with mutual respect. I deeply believe that we can make some progress in matters of the rule of law “- said the president of the Polish Academy of Sciences Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, welcoming the participants of the Forum.
The participants of the Forum included Jarosław Gowin, deputy prime minister, minister of science and higher education, and Paweł Mucha, secretary of state in the Chancellery of the President.
The “Forum for the Rule of law” was organized by the Polish Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. The aim of the initiative is a substantive dialogue on judicial reform. At the same time, it is a response to appeals of the legal community for a round table on the rule of law.
