Polish-Chinese research on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions

07.05.2019

The development of photocatalysts for the efficient production of solar fuels as a result of single- and multi-electron reduction of carbon dioxide is the main goal of the project carried out jointly by Prof. Wojciech Macyk from the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University and Prof. Jiaguo Yu from Wuhan University of Technology.

Professor Macyk is one of the scientists who received a grant in the 1st Sheng competition for Polish-Chinese basic research, organized by the National Science Center (NCN) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).

Traditional sources of energy cause a huge emission of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, in particular carbon dioxide. The use of photocatalytic reduction CO2 seems to be a promising and environmentally friendly strategy for obtaining chemical raw materials. What’s more, this approach is particularly beneficial due to the use of solar energy.
