Polish company developing a genetic diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 detection

13.05.2020

Scope Fluidics from Warsaw founded by Prof. Piotr Garstecki, a laureate of many programs of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), is conducting an intensive work on creating a genetic diagnostic test that will give a reliable result for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in just 15 minutes. The test is to be prepared for validation this fall.

The tests will be based on the universal PCR / ONE system created by Scope Fluidics, whose task is to detect bacteria and viruses.

The sample placed in the PCR / ONE device will be subjected to fully automatic analysis. Until now, the system was specialized mainly in the detection of nosocomial infections, e.g. staph. Now the company wants to use its capabilities and adapt it to perform molecular real-time PCR tests that detect genetic material of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Scope Fluidics is a Polish company dealing in the development of innovative projects in the field of diagnostics and health protection. The company was founded in 2010 at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
