President of Poland Andrzej Duda signed the bill on the Łukasiewicz Research Network

22.03.2019

The act is to ensure more effective cooperation of research institutes that will be part of the network. This will happen through the unification of financial management mechanisms, people, real estate and intellectual property rights.

There are 111 research institutes operating in Poland, which are supervised by 16 ministers. This affects the dissipation of their potential. Almost one third of these scientific units achieve higher rental income than sales of services related to research and development.

The network will be joined by 37 institutes (now mostly subordinated to the Ministry of Enterprise and Technology), as well as the Polish Center for Technology Development. The Łukasiewicz Center will be responsible for the coordination of their activities.
