The Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the UAM Foundation and the Zamek Cultural Center invite participants to a meeting at the “University Lectures in the Castle”. April 17 Prof. Przemysław Czapliński from the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology will give a lecture on “Freedom without equality? Literature in the face of social conflicts. “

After the change of political power in 2015, the following statement appeared: “Freedom went well, only something did not work out with equality.” Its author of the lecture separated the two basic values of modern society, suggesting that they can exist separately. The story of how the isolation took place, what role it played and what ideas for re-joining freedom and equality can be found in culture will be presented by Prof. Czapliński.

Professor Przemysław Czapliński is a historian of XX and XXI century literature, essayist, translator, literary critic; co-founder of the Department of Anthropology of Poznań University. The subject of his research is literature and the problems of late modernity.
