Professor Pierre Joliot receives an honorary doctorate of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin

On October 24, 2019, the world-famous biochemist and grandson of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska – Prof. Pierre Joliot will receive an honorary doctorate from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska Lublin University.

Professor Pierre Joliot is an honorary professor of College de France, a member of the French Academy of Sciences and an international authority in the field of photosynthesis – a key process conditioning life in the biosphere. He made a significant contribution to the development of biology, biophysics and biochemistry. He is also the author of 157 scientific papers and a member of many leading scientific organizations: American Society of Plant Biologist, National Society of Sciences (USA), Academia Europaea and Académie Européenne Des Sciences, Des Arts Et Des Lettres.

His interest in science results from the family traditions of two generations of Nobel laureates – grandmother Maria Curie-Skłodowska and parents – Irena and Fryderyk Joliot-Curie.
