Researcher from the Jagiellonian University wins the Award of the Biotechnology Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences

Dr Katarzyna Magiera-Mularz from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow received the Prof. Wacław Szybalski Award of the Biotechnology Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the best original work of a young Polish researcher in the field of biotechnology published last year in an international journal.

Dr Katarzyna Magiera-Mularz was awarded for the publication “Bioactive Macrocyclic Inhibitors of the PD-1 / PD-L1 Immune Checkpoint”, which appeared in the journal “Angewandte Chemie International Edition”.

In the award-winning publication, Dr. Magiera-Mularz presented the results of her work, which is “a significant contribution to the development of PD-L1 inhibitors with potential use in immunotherapy – the most promising among recently developed anti-cancer strategies”.
