Researcher of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań receives the L’Oréal-UNESCO scholarship

Dr Joanna Gościańska from the University of Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu won the scholarship L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science. A scientist from the Faculty of Chemistry is researching technologies that use coal in a new way.

Dr Gościańska analyzes multifunctional mesoporous carbon materials in the processes of adsorption of active pharmaceutical substances. The research is to find an answer to the question how to use mesoporous coals as drug carriers. This is an innovative and almost unexplored subject.

Dr Gościańska’s project includes painkillers and antibiotics. The results of research will allow limit the number of doses of the drug – the drug will be released in the body gradually throughout the day and exactly where it should.

The Polish National Committee for UNESCO, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Polish Academy of Sciences are partners of the L’Oréal Poland For Women and Science Program.
