Dr Katarzyna Molek-Kozakowska from the Institute of English Philology at the University of Opole is carrying out a research project concerning a critical analysis of the discourse on the popularization of science. The articles describing her research have appeared in prestigious scientific journals.

Her last article is “Making Biosciences Visible for Popular Consumption: Through a Critical Multimodal Analysis” published in the the American Qualitative Inquiry.

Research conducted by Dr Molek-Kozakowska includes elements of linguistics (stylistics, pragmatics, rhetoric), media studies and communication. The results can contribute to increasing the awareness of the impact of information media on the knowledge-based society and to develop better methods of reducing fake news and clickbait.

They can also support the training of journalists, PR specialists, moderators and information administrators in the interest of ethical standards in popularizing scientific knowledge.
