Researcher of the University of Zielona Góra appointed as an external examiner in biology

29.01.2019

Professor Leszek Jerzak from the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the University of Zielona Góra was appointed by the National University of Ireland as an external examiner in biology at medical universities: Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in Dublin, RCSI in Bahrain and RUMC in Penang, Malaysia.

The external examiner plays an important role in exams in the countries of the British education system – where it is required that at least one member of the examination commission should come from a different university. It is one of the oldest quality control systems in higher education – in the case of differences in the assessment of the examination by internal examiners, the deciding vote belongs to the external examiner.

The work involves the analysis and quality control of biology exams in medical fields. The analysis is subject to compliance of the test content with the knowledge passed on during classes and control or tests are understandable for students.
