Researchers from Lublin developed and patented an innovative bio-fertilizer

A team of scientists from the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin under the supervision of Dr Jerzy Wielbo, prof. UMCS, received the statuette of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and a silver medal for the development and patenting the innovative bio-fertilizer. The award was granted during the INTARG International Fair of Inventions and Innovations.

The purpose of the invention is to stimulate germination, growth and yielding of legume plants.

The authors of the patent “Biofertilizer for legumes planted on the basis of metabolites of the strain of bacteria Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. Viciae GR09 and the method of producing this bio-fertilizer ” are: Dr Jerzy Wielbo, Prof. of UMCS, Dr Dominika Maj, Prof. Anna Skorupska and Dr Monika Marek-Kozaczuk.
