Researchers from the Krakow University of Technology working on a new bandage for patients with psoriasis

31.10.2018

A team of chemists from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the Krakow University of Technology is working on a new type of materials for the preparation of dressings for patients with psoriasis.

Works at the Krakow university are run under the supervision of Dr Eng Katarzyna Bialik-Wąs. Researchers want to create a biohybryd material hydrogel, which can provide an innovative approach to the treatment of psoriasis using the nanocarrier-drug system.

– Thanks to this combination, we will create a new type of dressing with an innovative application system for medicinal preparations used in the treatment of psoriasis. Such a material will provide protection against mechanical damage and a suitable environment for the skin covered by psoriasis, and the dual drug release system will allow gradual delivery of the active substance to the affected skin – explains Dr. Eng. Katarzyna Bialik-Wąs.
