24.08.2018

Five scientists from the University of Warsaw (UW) and the Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences set up a spin-off company – Matariki Bioscience. It will deal with the commercialization of compounds that may become new drugs.

Matariki Bioscience is the first spin-off of the University of Warsaw operating within the “drug discovery” model.
The compounds are developed at the Peptides Laboratory of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Warsaw, then they will be tested in preclinical studies and in the early phases of clinical trials. The company’s task will is prepare a drug to be financed and taken over by a large pharmaceutical company. This, in turn, will provide funding for expensive late-stage clinical tests.
