Researchers from the Warsaw Medical University receive Award of the American Physiological Society

The American Physiological Society awarded the article “Chronic, low-dose TMAO treatment reduces diastolic dysfunction and heart fibrosis in hypertensive rats”, describing research conducted under the supervision of Dr Marcin Ufnal from the Department of Experimental Physiology and Pathophysiology at the Medical University of Warsaw (WUM) with the APSselect.

The publication concerns the influence of TMAO – a compound found in fish and produced by intestinal bacteria, on the cardiovascular system in the hypertension model. Research on TMAO is financed from the resources of the National Science Center.

The American Society of Physiology founded in 1887 is one of the most prestigious American scientific societies in the field of biomedical sciences. It counts over 10,000 members and publishes 15 prestigious scientific journals.
