Researchers of the University of Silesia developed new compounds in the form of p-vinylbenzyls

Chemists from the University of Silesia in cooperation with scientists from Synthos S.A. developed new compounds of p-vinylbenzyls along with the method of their preparation. The solution is patented and the only entities authorized to use the solution are the University of Silesia and Synthos S.A.

Scientists are primarily interested in the properties of these unusual compounds. It is already known that some of them show strong adsorption on the tooth enamel surface, thanks to which they can constitute a new type of filling material or act as a binder in tooth reconstruction.

Previously known methods for the synthesis of p-vinylbenzyls were time-consuming and expensive due to their multi-stage nature. Scientists have therefore developed a one-step, simple and efficient way to obtain these compounds, which will allow their production on an industrial scale.
