Robot plays the piano, AGH student plays the violin

01.02.2018

Wojciech Świtała, a student of Automation and Robotics at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, programmed the Mitsubishi RV-2F-D industrial robot to play the piano.

He graduated from the music school and decided to combine his two passions – music and robotics.

Robot with a graceful nickname Staszek is linked to a specially written computer software. The student can play the instrument using the robot. In addition, Staszek can remember the melody played, saving it to a file that can be replayed at any time. The program allows the robot to play with two fingers, hitting a cymbal and making its bow. The playing device of the robot has been printed in 3D technology.
