06.12.2018

On December 3, 2018, the Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX launched from the United States Air Force base in Vandenberg, California. It brought into Space also a satellite constructed by members of the Student Astronautic Circle that operates at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology.

The students have been working on the PW-Sat2 satellite for almost six years. This is the fourth Polish satellite, and the second one constructed by students of the Warsaw university.

PW-Sat2 is a CubeSat satellite. It has a rectangular shape measuring 10 × 10 × 22 cm. Its mission will last 40 days. During the mission time, it will do four experiments. The most important is to test the innovative deorbiting sail. The designed solution is to prevent the satellites that have already completed their mission from remaining in orbit.
