The innovative project Share Your Soils (SYStem), co-created by scientists from the Faculty of Earth Sciences of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, received over 352,000. euro under the “Erasmus + Action 2. Strategic Partnerships” competition.

The project is a response to the challenges posed by higher education to the “Z” generation today, so called “digital natives” who expect that education will use a wide range of mobile technologies and gamification. Its purpose is to create edutainment social media dedicated to the description and classification of soils according to the international classification of WRB.

The main tool created as part of the project implemented in a consortium of universities from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia and Spain is a mobile application for sending soil profile photos with a description and geolocation and classification proposal. Users will have the opportunity to interact and share their knowledge.
