Silesian scientists patented improved swimming fins

14.05.2020

Researchers of the University of Silesia and the University of Physical Education in Katowice designed swimming fins that they patented at the Polish Patent Office and received the industrial design protection from the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

The fins are ultralight, they consist of a shoe with a belt fastening the system and a specially designed, profiled blade improving the hydrodynamic efficiency of the product. They are made of a material with antibacterial and antifungal properties, which is particularly important in swimming pools or rental companies.

Fins of this type are intended for recreational, sport, rehabilitation or diving swimming. They can also be used in swimming lessons and in hobby swimming. Thanks to properly designed fin blades, the speed and efficiency of swimming increase in crawl, frog and dolphin strokes.
