Silesian University of Technology to launch CORNELIA – a system for collecting surveys on cognitive disorders associated with COVID-19

22.05.2020

Researchers of the Silesian University of Technology have developed the CORNELIA (Coronavirus Neurological Impairment) platform, enabling the e-mail invitation of people selected by doctors to participate in an anonymous survey regarding the general health status of COVID-19 patients and their neurological symptoms.

The aim of the project is to verify, using statistical methods and machine learning, the hypothesis about the increased occurrence of neurological and cognitive disorders during COVID-19 disease and to assess the scale of neurological complications after its cure.

– CORNELIA is to support people diagnosed as COVID-19 patients with neurological changes. In some cases, the doctors observed changes in the brain associated with the disease as well as temporary anxiety and association disorders, so they were asked to create an application analyzing that issue – says the project initiator, Prof. Joanna Polańska from the Silesian University of Technology.
